History
Formally erected in Zurich (Switzerland), 8 Jan 1967, when statutes were approved and first Council elected.
Aims
Ensure that the traditional Roman Mass as codified in the Missale Romanum edited by Pope John XXIII, and other ancient rites and usages of the Latin Church is maintained, both in practice and in law, as one of the forms of liturgical celebration which are recognized and honoured in the universal liturgical life of the Roman Catholic Church; obtain freedom of use for all the other Roman liturgical books enshrining previous liturgy and discipline of the Latin tradition; safeguard and promote the use of Latin, Gregorian chant and sacred polyphony in the liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church; encourage establishment of non-territorial parishes and/or chaplaincies in which only the liturgy as used in 1962 are employed.
