Founded

History

Established following first summit of Asia-Europe Heads of State - F-XF4191 - Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) - 1-2 Mar 1996, Bangkok (Thailand).

Comprises the 4th "pillar" of a Euro-Asian "House", representing the engagement between civil societies of the two regions; the only permanent physical institution of ASEM process.

Aims

Advance mutual understanding and collaboration between Asia and Europe through intellectual, cultural and people-to-people exchanges in areas of common interest to both regions. Act as an interface between civil society and ASEM governments by: operating as the civil society outreach of ASEM; creating permanent networks aiming to reinforce bi-regional relations; injecting civil society inputs into the ASEM process.
