History
1894, as International Commission on Glaciers -- Commission internationale des glaciers (CIG). Currently a permanent commission of B-XB1340 - International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) of A-XA2722 - International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG), having been set up by S-XS9962 - International Geological Congress (IGC) and the then H-XH2259 - International Meteorological Organization (IMO), forerunner of B-XB3556 - World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Replaced by U-XM0094 - IUGG Union Commission for the Cryospheric Sciences (IUGG CCS) and other commissions.
Aims
Study snow and ice in all their physical and geographical aspects: ice in the atmosphere, deposited snow, glacier, ice sheet, sea, river, lake and ground ice.
