Steve has over thirty years of experience in owning, running and future proofing companies. He has been CEO, Managing Director or equivalent in seven companies in four countries managing teams of up to 500 employees and based in Asia for over 20 years. He has deep domain knowledge in Insurtech, Fintech, commercial insurance, compliance, risk and crisis management.

“RISK and the Asian CEO” Steve’s first book, was published on Amazon Kindle in 2016. He has been recognised as the No.1 worldwide influencer in Insurtech according to the Global Instech 100 in early 2017. He features in the Top 20 Global Influencer lists of Rise, Richtopia and Onalytica in the areas of Insurtech, Fintech and Blockchain. He has a significant presence on Twitter (42k), LinkedIn (22k), Instagram (6k) Facebook, Pinterest, Snapchat and Tumblr.

MSc in Project Management & Risk, BSc in Surveying and a Diploma in M&E Engineering. Member of the Institute of Risk Management, the Business Continuity Institute, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Association for Project Management and the Association of Cost Engineers.

Clara Fernández López

External Relations Manager of UIA

Clara is a skilled mediator with a training in understanding-based approach to conflict. As an independent consultor, she supports academic and professional publishing houses, organizations and academic institutions in diverse areas of company strategy, publishing, marketing and in international relations development.

Clara joined the Union of International Associations as External Relations Manager in 2011. In her role as Publisher, Managing Director and Member of the Management Board with various international publishing and media companies such as K. G. Saur in Germany, Gale in the U.S., Thomson Learning in U.K. and De Gruyter in Germany, from 1988 to 2011 she was the Publisher of UIA’s "Yearbook of International Organizations".

Since 1998, Clara is a Lecturer in Media Sciences at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany and since 2017 Member of the Executive Board of the International Youth Library Foundation.

Jeffers Miruka

Mr. Jeffers Miruka is the President and Founder member of the African Society of Association Executives (AfSAE). AfSAE is a pan-African professional community of association executives formed in 2015 to serve as the professional society for those within the Association Management profession in Africa.

Mr. Miruka is also the Executive Director of the African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE), a Nairobi based association of agricultural and development economists with over 3000 members spread globally, with specific interest in African agricultural transformation.

Mr. Miruka has over 13 years combined experience in association management and MICE. He has a rich experience in association development, convention bureau management, and is a frequent speaker and contributor to many global publications, media interviews and association forums.

Mr. Miruka is currently involved with the government of Kenya, activating the Kenya National Convention Bureau. He is well known internationally in the MICE Business events industry and easily recognized as the pre-eminent African associations ambassador and a leader of the association movement in the continent. He has a Masters in Global Marketing.

Professor Dr Teo Soo Hwang PhD FASc OBE

Chief Executive, Cancer Research Malaysia

Prof Teo Soo-Hwang is Chief Executive of Cancer Research Malaysia. Her team works with global teams to ensure that the fight against cancer doesn’t miss Asians.

Cancer Research Malaysia is a company limited by guarantee, governed by a Board of Trustees and in her role as founding CEO, Prof Teo has worked closely with the Founding Trustees to establish a governance framework, strategic plan and operational plans for the Foundation.

Prof Teo’s contributions to medical research have been acknowledged through appointments as an Adjunct Professor of University Malaya in 2008, an Eisenhower Fellow in 2010, a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences on 2014, Top Research Scientist Award in 2014 and Honorary Officer of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in 2017.
