History

10 Oct 1951, Amsterdam (Netherlands), as International Association of Textile Purchasing Societies. Statutes amended: 1956, 1957, 1959, 1973, 1974. Currently unites buying groups in all lines of business. Not incorporated; based in Bonn (Germany). Ceased to exist 1 Jan 2001.

Aims

Defend and promote members' interests by research on methods of work, internal organization, rationalization, etc; provide general economic documentation (cartels, price policies, taxes, import duties); compile statistics; establish direct relations among members; contribute to internationalization of cooperating small and medium-sized enterprises; demand further reduction on inter- European Community trade barriers and freedom of movement of goods and services; support freedom of movement in international purchase of goods and oppose trading restrictions; support political initiatives serving the balance of diverse trade structures in Europe among different types of store.
