History

Founded 1952, Bussum (Netherlands), by 3 national organizations, as International Conference of Educators of Blind Youth (ICEBY), when statutes were adopted. Most recent constitution: Aug 1987, Würzburg (Germany FR). Has been referred to in English as International Council for Education of the Visually Handicapped (ICEVH). Most recent amendment to constitution: Dec 2010, London (UK).

Aims

Ensure access and full participation in education for all children and young people with visual impairment by 2015; promote and assist in building of local capacity to develop curricula; provide training and identify and provide equipment and materials for children and young people with visual impairments and for their parents, teachers and others in their communities; collaborate with and make use of networks to ensure that substantially more children and young people with visual impairment receive quality and comprehensive education; disseminate information.
