Jun 2002, merged with H-XB2000 - International Federation of the Seed Trade (ISF) to form B-XB0013 - International Seed Federation (ISF).
Aims
Represent at international level and promote through national organizations the interests of plant breeders and others who share a common and active major interest in the creation of new plant germplasm; establish, protect and take steps necessary to achieve intellectual property rights for plant varieties which follow from investment in such activities; arbitrate between members in settlement of disputes relating to such rights or other interests; increase recognition of the importance and value of plant breeders' contribution to world agriculture and horticulture and cooperate with international public and private agencies working for improvement in these fields; put forward commonly determined positions with respect to issues of public concern; support members as they develop and collectively communicate industry concerns to the executive and legislative branches of their respective governments; maintain positive public relations internationally, particularly concerning environmental and conservation issues; inform members of pending legislation, rules and regulations applicable to the international plant breeding industry and monitor legal proceedings whose resolution could establish precedent or otherwise significantly affect the interests of the plant breeding industry; help create a more favourable environment in which to conduct business in an ethical manner.
