Aims
Strengthen links among universities and other teaching, research and cultural institutions of countries in the Amazon region; discuss solutions to common regional problems through systematic cooperation, communication and information; raise the level of reciprocal knowledge among Amazonian universities so as to identify common needs, available resources and possibilities of institutional support; develop programmes and projects of common interest in science, technology and culture; define an integrated cultural policy for Amazonia, respecting different ethnic and social contexts, recovering the true cultural identity of the region and serving as as reference for regional scientific and technological policy; create/consolidate programmes to obtain qualified human resources; establish/strengthen links with national and international agencies, identify sources of finance and provide technical support in execution of programmes and events; promote development for the benefit of the population and ecology of Amazonian countries.
