Study and propagate the thinking of Jacques Maritain; promote study and research on problems of humankind, culture and contemporary society; use findings to operate in the cultural, social and educational fields.

Activities

Serves as an international, interdisciplinary laboratory operating in the field of research, cultural and educational activities, with a special interest in the problems of man, cultures and radical changes in society, through: research programmes; seminars and conferences; educational seminars and courses; publications and documentation. Operating policy is informed by the works of Jacques Maritain who was one of the most important catholic philosophers of the 20th century. Recently developed themes: personalist philosophy of Jacques Maritain and contemporary thought; acquisitions and limits of globalization; intercultural and religious dialogue and the culture of peace; relationship between human development and democracy, and between universal rights and cultures; ethics, economics, culture, art and poetry as un-renounceable experiences in the society of knowledge. Maintains Aula Magna conference hall and seminar rooms.
