Aims

Improve the quality of life in the Western Hemisphere by promoting just, coherent population and sustainable development policies; strengthen collaboration among parliamentarians of the Western Hemisphere through the exchange of knowledge on population and development issues; increase awareness in the countries of the Americas of the close relationship between population and sustainable development; encourage the adoption of policies designed to improve the status of women, provide better protection for children, improve patterns of migration both within and among countries, and incorporate population considerations into developing planning; Promote gender equity, equality and women's rights to ensure that women participate in all aspects of development; increase awareness about the need to reach a balance between the utilization of resources and the protection of environment.
