History
Founded as an international commission of B-XB2566 - International Society of Radiology (ISR), during the 7th S-XS0014 - International Congress of Radiology (ICR), when the structure of IRS was adopted and several other working groups were started. ICRE is the only surviving commission, and is currently the major working commission of ISR. Replaced by International Society of Radiology Commission on Radiologic Education.
Aims
Encourage and develop educational materials relating to diagnostic imaging in connection with regional and national radiology societies and with international scientific and political organizations; develop material relating to safe and efficacious use of ionizing radiation to the education of specialists in diagnostic radiology, the training of radiation physicists and of radiographers.
Activities

International Committee (meets twice a year), consisting of national delegations of member countries. Executive Committee (meets at least annually), comprising President, President-Elect, Past President, Secretary-General, Treasurer, Executive Director and 10 members. Committees set up by ISR, mostly to provide education content for the website; a separate sub-committee plans scientific programmes for ISR international congresses. Advisory Board for International Affairs in Radiology (ABIAR) performs liaison with other international medical organizations.
